Description

Coating composition
The present invention relates to a kind of method of particularly priming on the car surface, for example as a part of repairing, wherein on the surface
1. the first paint base composition of a kind of radiation-hardenable of coating, by the UV radiation make it to solidify and
2. on described priming paint, be coated with one or more finish paint.
Motor vehicle is repaired the used coating of japanning and is generally comprised which floor different coating composition.Initial coating is priming coat normally.Described priming coat provides the adhesion with matrix, and described matrix can be bare metal, also can be already present priming paint or finish paint or its mixture, depends on the character of described repairing.Described priming paint also is mixed with the coating that provides thicker, available sand paper or glass paper sand milling (being also referred to as " smooth ") thus dash out little defective in the matrix, for follow-up coating provides perfect plane surface.Thereby described priming paint contains pigment usually and/or filler makes it to be easy to sand milling. The thickness of described priming coat typically is 50 to 200 μ m.Be coated with finish paint on described priming paint, finish paint itself can comprise more than a class coating such as base coating and clear coat.
A known class coating composition that is used for priming paint comprises polymer such as polyester or the acrylic polymer and the polyisocyanates of hydroxyl-functional.Reaction generated polyurethane coating after these two kinds of components were applied to matrix. Therefore these compositions often are called " polyurethane coating composition ", but only just form polyurethane strictly speaking after described coating is crosslinked. This type of polyurethane primer has been known at least 20 years.
One of problem of using polyurethane primer is to have the sufficiently long time to make it to solidify before they can be sanded and be coated with finish paint. If sand milling and be coated with finish paint before its fully solidifies, then sand milling is difficult to and is time-consuming, and described finish paint may interact with priming paint cause the appearance poor of coated article. But typically, priming paint was solidified 2-4 hour at ambient temperature at sand milling with before being coated with finish paint.Perhaps can toast about 30 minutes down at nearly 60 ℃.This is normally not preferred, because need to utilize the valuable baking space that is generally used for solidifying finish paint.
Second problem of polyurethane primer is the organic solvent that they contain high level.Because environmental problem, the general trend of coatings industry are the coating compositions that solvent reduces. One of method that reduces solvent is to use so-called high solids content composition. The high solids content composition is a solvent-based compositions, contains the non-volatile matter of high level such as the organic solvent of film forming polymer, pigment and filler and lower content.Preparation is applicable to that the problem of the high solids coatings composition of coating machine motor-car is that described composition has unacceptable high viscosity. This is because film forming polymer solution viscosity in the solution of high solids content that tradition is used in this field is very high. This high viscosity causes the problem that flows out difference thereby appearance poor in coating process.
The 3rd problem of polyurethane primer is to have following shortcoming: known polyisocyanates is to breathe sensitizer, thereby must be quite careful when using, and particularly will prevent that the operator from sucking paint spray during the spraying. This requires the operator to wear air fed breathing mask usually.Obviously be the unfavorable coating of a class.
The 4th problem of polyurethane primer is that fabulous moisture-proof and corrosion resistance can not be provided when being applied to bare metal usually.Need independent metal conditioner or the bonding bottoming agent of coating on metal before using polyurethane primer. This makes to finish and repairs required time and further prolong.
We find a kind of method, and utilization can be by being subjected to extremely hanging down the paint base composition of the UV radiation curing of UV-B content and essentially no UV-C content. This method can be operated in typical motor vehicle repair shop easily and safely.Emit organic solvent in the coating of described priming paint and the solidification process hardly or not, and described priming paint can coating and curing in the extremely short time cycle.Even when using under the situation that does not have independent metal conditioner or bonding bottoming agent, the priming paint that described UV solidifies also provides fabulous moisture-proof and corrosion resistance.
Radiation cured coating composition is known. The EuropeanCoatings Journal that publishes in September, 1999 has summarized the present situation in this field among the p21-49.Use and be limited to the flat matrix that on production line, is coated with mostly.Sometimes under inert atmosphere, be cured.
These are very different with the situation that vehicle is repaired.Be coated with by skilled craftsman, each all differences of repairing are coated with described coating at the same area that is used to be cured usually.Be applicable to that radiation curable coating that vehicle repairs is must be than composition described in the above-mentioned document safer, more solid and adaptability is stronger. In addition, be difficult in certainly under the inert atmosphere in the workshop and operate.
Disclose some and be used for the radiation-curable composition that vehicle is repaired, but do not satisfied above-mentioned requirements fully.
WO98 40170 has described a kind of coating composition, by two types crosslinking curing.System A can not contain two keys of free redical polymerization by addition and/or condensation heat cure, and system B can solidify by radical polymerization, can not be crosslinked with the A of system. This application is limited to clear coating composition.
DE196 35 447 has described a kind of method for repairing and mending, relates to pulsed high energy UV radiation clear dope or painted finish paint are solidified.
