1 Claim.

This invention relates to improvements in holding and dispensing means, and pertains more particularly to devices adaptable for holding and dispensing tooth paste and shaving cream.

Tooth paste and shaving cream in tubes are usually kept in a toilet kit or medicine cabinet until needed. This method of storage necessitates a search for the required tube each time its contents are to be used.

In the embodiment of this invention a receptacle is provided for convenient storage of paste and cream in tubes, this receptacle being a component part of a rack which is designed for holding a Water glass and a plurality of tooth brushes. A means for forcing the expulsion of the contents of the tube is provided in the form of a slotted key extending through aligned slots in the front and rear Walls of the receptacle. The metal seal at the bottom of a tube is inserted in the slot of the key, and as the key is turned the cream or paste is forced out through an opening at one end of the receptacle. A dispensing means adaptable for use in conjunction with this invention is fully illustrated and described in a co-pending application Serial No. 660,214, filed April 6, 1946.

The principal object of the invention is to provide an easily accessible means of storage for tooth paste or shaving cream in tubes.

Another object of the invention is to provide a means of forcing the expulsion of the contents of tubes containing tooth paste or shaving cream.

Still another object of the invention is to provide a means of attachment to a rigid vertical wall or equally satisfactory position of placement.

A further object of the invention is to provide a place for holding tooth-brushes while not in use.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a place for secure placement of a Water glass.

With the foregoing objects as paramount, the invention has further reference to certain features of accomplishment and uniqueness of construction which will become apparent as the description proceeds, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the inventiomconstructed according to the invention.

Figure 2 is a front elevational view in vertical section to illustrate the inner construction details.

Figure 3 is a top plan view of a slotted key used in the expulsion of paste or cream from tubes, and

Figure 4 is a side elevational view in vertical section to illustrate the means of supporting the receptacle containing the tubes of paste ory cream, and to illustrate the disposition of the key used to expel the contents of said tubes.

Continuing with a more detailed description of the drawings, reference numeral 5 designates a continuous rack and back plate having apertures 6 for receiving screws or other means for fastening to a rigid support. The rack and plate 5 is formed to enclose an angle of between its vertical and horizontal surfaces. A series of elongated perforations 'I is provided in the horizontal portion of the rack 5 to receive tooth brushes when not in use. An annulus 8 is permanently attached to the horizontal surface of the rack as shown in Figures 1 and 2, and provides a means of retaining a water glass upon the surface of the rack in comparative security. The sides of the rack 5 are formed to provide a supporting guide channel for a removable tube receptacle 9, the upper edges of the latter having an extrusion adaptable for longitudinal movement in the channel thus formed, as illustrated in Figures 2 and. 4. Horizontal slots I Il in the front and'rear sides of the receptacle 9 permit a slotted key II, illustrated in Figure 3, to be inserted laterally of the receptacle 9 for unhampered rotational movement therein, the slot in the key I I being of suicient capacity to house securely the metal end seal of a conventional tube of tooth paste or shaving cream. An aperture I2 in one end of the receptacle 9 is provided for the open end of a tube. An adapter or collar I3 and a dispensing means I4 are more fully illustrated and described in a co-pending application referred to in the foregoing.

In use the receptacle 9 is removed from the rack and a tube of paste or cream is placed Within it With its open end protruding through the aperture I2. A dispensing means previously mentioned is threaded on the protruding neck of the tube which provides a means of controlling the expulsion of the contents of the tube. The key II is then placed around the end sealing portion at the opposite end of the tube, passing through the slots I0 in the front and rear of the receptacle 9. Rotational movement of the key II tends to Wind the tube around the body of the key in a manner forcing physical pressure upon the contents of the tube toward the end on which the` dispensing means is threaded.

Manifestly, the construction as shown and described is capable of some modification, and such modication as may be construed to fall within the scope and meaning of the appended claim is also considered to be Within the spirit and intent of the invention.

What is claimed is:

In a paste tube dispensing rack the combination comprising a support which is substantially L-shaped in transverse section and adapted to be ail'ixed horizontally on a Wall, the horizontal portion of said member defining a shelf and having its endscur'ved downwardly and inwardlyto detlne depending arcuate channels, a receptacle of greater length than Width having longitudinal slots in its front and rear walls and provided with rolled ends adapted to be slidably retained in said channels, and internally threaded collar embracing an aperture in one end of said receptacle for receiving and holding the neck of a paste tube extended through said aperture and a key extending through and rotatable in the slots of said receptacle for squeezing paste from said tube.
